The light sensor bit reads ambient light levels meaning that the light sensor reads the amount of light surrounding the sensor.
In the light sensor, the main electrical component is called a phototransistor. Phototransistors are embedded into clear lenses for better focus of light into electrical components.
The light sensor measures the detected light and returns the value as a light reading of 1 to 100 (where 1 = very dark and 100 = very bright).
