Unit 3 – Problem Solving

Identifying and solving real word problems.

In Unit 3 students become true inventors and undertake a term project of their choice. Whether it is designing a more efficient way to solve everyday tasks, crafting solutions for global challenges, or even inventing something entirely new that changes the game.

Students work with the Invention Engine bits from Unit 1 and Unit 2, as well as the introduction of the temperature sensor bit, the IR transmitter bit, the noise sensor bit and the motor bit.

Unit 3 Lesson Activities – Student Set

The Invention Engine Unit 3 lesson set contains an introduction to the project by helping students look for problems to solve and how they can design and concept their project. The Unit 3 activity is designed for independent use by students aged 12+ who are learning computer science foundations and who have already worked through the Unit 1 and Unit 2 activities.

The student activity set guides students into the project of their own choice, with helpful tips for students to work through as they learn computational thinking and computer science fundamentals.
